Last Updated: Saturday, November 19th, 2011 Karen's latest letter... "CALIFORNIA DREAMIN" Hello, from UCLA, to all of our friends!! Thank you for your notes, e-mails, calls, and prayer support for Morgan and me! What a medical journey since December, 2006 through today?!! Tenacity and persistence have finally rewarded our years of doggedly navigating the medical and insurance systems for a comprehensive diagnosis and medical treatment. Morgan is currently at UCLA under the care of Dr. Lonnie Zeltzer and Dr. Paul Zeltzer, along with their medical team. They are similar to Dr. Gregory House on the TV program except that they are kind, compassionate, and smarter than him!! They have found that Morgan has a rare, blood disease in addition to her diffuse, total body, reflex neurovascular dystrophy. She was born with this disease and the subsequent, painful bone pain in her spine, hips, knees, sternum, and forearms along with her 20-60 hours of sleep stupor, since 10/06, was the way that her body dealt with the bone marrow, cellular crisis. Therefore, her day-to-day quality of life should continue to improve with the new medications and treatment in the next 4-6 months! However, due to this disease, they have recommended that Morgan not ride in the future. Therefore, I will also be selling both of the great Quarter ponies that I have for her. In January, 2008, I had 46 horses in my Quarter horse business that I had bought or bred from my core of broodmares. From that time, I have sold 23 and have 23 left...the very core of my breeding business and show prospects. I am not withholding any from my business while I am retaining 4 for Morgan's Trust which mean so much to her. I will differentiate the 2011 babies, the broodmares, and the current show horses for your perusal. I have been privileged to buy, own, breed, and sell many NSBA Hall of Fame Champions, Congress Champions, World Champions, and Youth World Champions from 1978 through the present. I retained only the best mares and the most talented show horses...they are currently in training and entered in the NSBA World and Congress. I truly feel that I currently own one of the best Huntseat horses in my life...The Game Changer.
